The Oracle

«Scene: Laken and Ada in a training room»

Ada: Yeah! The apprentice surpasses the master!

Laken: Hah! Hey now, don't get too cocky!
Laken: But seriously, I'm proud of you. I can't believe how much you've improved!

Ada: I know! I'm finally strong enough to fight alongside you now.
Ada: I can't wait to be able to go on my first mission!

Legion Recruit: Excuse me, sir. I'm sorry to interrupt…

Laken: Can this wait? I'm right in the middle of something here.

Legion Recruit: I'm sorry, sir, but no.
Legion Recruit: The Oracle needs to see you right away.

Laken: Well, Ada, it looks like that first mission might have come sooner than you expected!

«Scene: The Oracle and Laken»

Laken: You wanted to see me, your grace?

Legion Oracle: Yes. I have had a vision…
Legion Oracle: A vision of immense destruction.
Legion Oracle: In order to stop it, we must send a squadron into the past.
Legion Oracle: 1,000 years into the past.

Laken: You want me to lead that squadron, don't you?

Legion Oracle: You would be the obvious choice. You are both trustworthy and strong.
Legion Oracle: You are one of the few who might be able to succeed, and to come back alive.

Laken: Whatever the Legion needs from me, I will give.

Legion Oracle: I am glad to hear that.

Laken: Man, 1,000 years in the past! I couldn't have picked a more exciting first mission for Ada if I tried!

Legion Oracle: No! She cannot go with you.

Laken: She's coming. She's proven just today that she's more than ready for it.
Laken: And if I'm being sent into the past… there's no telling when I'll be coming back.
Laken: I won't abandon her. She deserves better than that.

Legion Oracle: I know I cannot tell you what to do.
Legion Oracle: You are Dage's Second-in-command. I do not outrank you. I can't give you orders.
Legion Oracle: But I will leave you with this warning:
Legion Oracle: If you bring the girl, nothing good will come of it.
Legion Oracle: It will only lead to ruin.
Legion Oracle: Think carefully before you make your choice.

«Scene: Laken and the Hero»

Hero: So, obviously you brought her along.

Laken: Of course I did. What choice did I have?
Laken: I knew I might not come back for years, if at all. I could not just abandon her. She's the only family I have.
Laken: Whatever may come of this, I know I did the right thing for Ada.

Hero: I guess we'll just have to hope the Oracle was wrong.

Laken: Ada would probably say that what happened to Darkon proves she was right.

Hero: Nah, that wasn't Ada's fault. He did what he had to do to defeat Envy and recover the Fragment of Dage.
Hero: Whatever happened to that thing, anyway?

Laken: It's currently being made into a weapon.

Hero: Whoa. Really?

Laken: It's the only thing that can hurt Dage's immortal form… like diamond cutting diamond.
Laken: Soon, we're going to have to face him. We're going to need this weapon if we're going to stand a chance.
