Origin of the Beast

Before the Underworld had factions warring over it, before civilization could gain a foothold to form…
The Beast roamed Lore.
A force of the Underworld with such an insatiable hunger for souls that not even Death could tame it.

The Beast ravaged village after village consuming soul after soul. Allowing none to pass over to the afterlife.

Death, concerned that the natural order was on the brink of destruction, enlisted the help of Nulgath and his Nation.
In exchange for the Beast's defeat, Nulgath would gain rule over the Underworld, and the lost souls that refuse to pass over with Death.

Nulgath sent his armies to subdue the Beast, but not even Fiend swarms of his Nation were not enough to stop its hunger.

Seeing the full strength of his advisory, Nulgath faced the Beast himself, determined to secure his rule of the Underworld.
After losing scores of Fiends and his physical body destroyed, Nulgath was able to do what was thought to be impossible.

He defeated the Beast, slicing its very soul in two.
One half consisting of the Beast's undying hunger and the power that came with it, while the other half consisting of the Beast's cunning and thrist for conquest.
Nulgath was given control over the Underworld, and sealed the Beast's hunger deep within a prison of the Underworld known as the Seven Circles.

With the Beast's cunning, however, Nulgath had other plans.
Nulgath found a king, already cursed, willing to forge a contract with him.

In exchange for power, the king would offer his service to Nulgath in death.

While the king received the power he asked for, the Beast's desire to conquer quickly overcame the king and turned him into a bloodthirsthy ruler.
That king was King Dage, who would be executed by his people and, in unlife, would become Dage the Evil.

Now, after centuries of imprisonment, the Beast's other half is breaking loose from its chains.
Now, Hero, you must travel to the Underworld's Seven Circles, and prevent the Beast's escape…
Or all will be lost.
