This is how I work: you want the thing, I give you the thing, but like any good deal, we need a contract! Bring me 10 Fresh Souls from any of the Guards or Inquisitors in the /citadel, then we can discuss about prices. More power, means more work, which means more souls! Easy, huh? Then go get some! Oh, don't forget you need to do it in my name. It will make sure the Soul will come right to me.
Ah yes, now THIS will be good.

Oh my, what do we have here? I would recognize this egg from miles. It is said the Archfiend Dragons were savage, loyal and unstoppable. Which doesn't make sense since there aren't any of them left now. If you don't have a grown up Archfiend Dragon to hatch your egg, you would probably need a powerful being to do it for you. Where would you find such a being in a place like this? Ha! You got it. All I need is these ingredients, and a little help from an old friend of mine… good luck with that and DON'T forget the souls!
It took you some time, I see. Oh well, let's get it started.

Heard you're into some hardcore tasks. I've got something here and there for you, but FIRST, let's make a deal. There is some stuff I will need you to bring in order to summon this big guy here, and I need to make sure you agree with all the terms and so on. First I'll need Human Souls from any human in /noxustower, Fallen Souls from the Undead Paladin in /doomwood, and just one Soul Potion from /alchemy. Oh, don't forget you need to do it in my name. If you can gather the reagents, we can pull the shadows out of the Shadowscythe's most precious artifacts to create versions just as powerful as they are. We'll also have to go back to the source of these items if we wish to use them. Precision is key, so you'll need the Hollowborn Shadow of Fate to guide the process.

The shadows of Chaos are…complicated. I heard that its nature changes depending on who's holding the reins. Ironically, the person in question is possessive of his thralls, seeking to use Chaos as a method of control. What would happen if we were to pull the shadows from items infected by Chaos? Bring some to me and we'll find out.
In the middle of my process, I felt like the items making themselves decay. Seems like they preferred self-destruction over being tampered with. I don't know if the Champion is aware of our little experiment, or if this is just the current nature of his Chaos. But, I managed to salvage what was left and the results are very interesting.

I wish I could have tested my skills against the Beasts of Chaos themselves. Don't take it as me looking to hunt them. I would never interfere with your quarry. That'd just be plain rude. But, taking the next step up means pulling the shadows out of those Beasts. When you fight them, remember to bring mementos back for me. Let's see what we get.
Interesting! Look at what crawled out of the Beasts' shadows. Hmm, the idea of Hollowborn Beasts crossed my mind. Imagine if the Shadow Fiend approached them during their last breaths, and offered them a second chance? Haha, that'd be a one way ticket to getting on the Chaos Champ's bad side. Maybe even yours if the Beasts took that chance to get revenge.

We're crossing into territory many Hollowborn could only dream of. Oh? Chaos has ruined and ended its fair share of lives. I imagine that destroying Chaos could be a big motivator for potential Hollowborn. But, you're the only one capable of grappling with the fiercest of Chaos' Beasts one on one. Bring me mementos from the remainder of the Beasts so I can pull their shadows. I can't ask anyone else.
They say that if you gaze into the abyss, it gazes back. Chaos is different, always changing, on the brink of breaking free at any given moment. It gazes first. As a Hollowborn, I respect that but I prefer remembering my identity and goals. Few can drench themselves in Chaos and remain themselves. One of them being you.

Personal effects tend to have deeper shadows. Not sure what I mean? Then let me demonstrate by pulling the shadows out of the Chaos Lord's close belongings. Other similar items would help bring my message across. Pry them out of Chaos' hands and bring them back here. In the meantime, I'll mentally prepare myself. Chaos is possessive about its shadows, like how it is with everything else.
Symbols are powerful things. Sure, they’re empowered by Chaos but the shadows I pull from them are deep because those items meant something important to their owners. That could be why they maintained their shape, and how their masters attempted to use the Chaos tainting them for their own means. They forgot how symbols like that are just man-made illusions. Only a will as strong as yours can overpower the thrall of Chaos.

We've reached the breaking point in our study of Chaos' shadows. To go any further, you'll need to confront the Champion of Chaos himself and obtain traces of Chaos. Either take on /ultradrakath or acquire them from an alternate version of yourself in /championdrakath. Sounds easy enough, right? Besides, I bet you like beating up that pest.
I heard that Doom and Chaos sought to use the Champion for their own ends. Drakath’s Chaos is possessive and controlling in nature. So much that I have to wonder if he’s insecure because he has to rely on power given by a higher being. Pfft. Well, anyone under the thrall of Chaos would be difficult for even the Shadow Fiend to raise. But if you can rend Chaos, then the rest of us will just have to catch up. Its shadows are now yours.

How about a few extra prizes? Chaos shadows have a lot to offer and I have time to pass. Save that heavy sigh for later. You've got Chaos to slay, and I have a lot of standing to do. It's to limber up, of course. Yanking those shadows out takes a lot of energy.

Look at how those folks are setting up a tourist trap right outside the town's gates. They don't even live here and they're dragging travelers over to make them listen to their sermon. On our way to town, we might need to gently tell them we're not buying what they're selling. Too bad for them if they try to bully and throw the first punch. We'll throw the last punch.

What a warm welcome. All these flowers everywhere to celebrate so soon after a tragedy? I don't get that sort of thing but I haven't been invited to many funerals either. Ask that old man Waelc about the customs. We're sight-seeing after all. Oh right, I meant investigating. Care to ask why they let these pests run around too?

Lovely! A bunch of those Vindicators ran inside the Shrine to cause trouble. We can't let them vandalize the building, especially not that extremely handsome statue over there.

The Draconians are new. Do you think they're actual Draconians, or humans that were transformed like the Beasts? Only one way to find out. Let's pry off some scales to see if there's anything human underneath.

How many Vindicator Soldiers got stuffed into this tower? Don't they have places to go vindicate or something? Unless…they're here to support another high ranking member of Gramiel's flock. Lets kick them down the stairs, and find out who they answer to.

Thay's terrified of rats, so we should take care of them first. Snow needs a break. She's been telling me about how the rats burrowed into the walls, started floating, and to put it politely, tossing up their green cookies at her.

It's your turn to take a break. Teka and Aciel just arrived, and they've already gone upstairs to explore Thay's mansion. They don't know about the rats, ghosts, and spiders yet. Right, I forgot to mention the spiders, but let's worry about that later.
I barely had time to welcome them myself. Managing a wedding is a lot more stressful than handling Hollowborn affairs. If I knew it would be this tough, the Shadow Fiend would have used it against me during my trial to become Hollow.

I suppose you, Aciel, and Teka noticed the giant spiders while you were chatting. It's safe to say they're just as possessed as the rats. Would you mind getting rid of them too? Sorry, I don't have any sanctified water to spray them with.
There's this book about a spider weaving words into their web to help a friend. I figured that's what these spiders were doing when they wove "DIE" and "KILL" in the corners of the kitchen. Lesson learned. That's not supposed to be normal.

Uh-oh, I hear trouble inside our bedroom. That's where Hikari and NCS are doing last-minute adjustments to my suit and Thay's wedding dress. Would you mind checking to see if they're alright? Maybe the rats and spiders are biting them.
I'm glad they're good, but Hikari and NCS can't concentrate if the ghosts keep distracting them. It'd be a shame if they got possessed and had to be locked in a closet too. They'd miss the entire ceremony!

Would you mind banishing all the spirits in the bedroom? I have no idea why they're so mad. Thay's a Hollowborn Witch, but she's not out there boiling kids. Why are the ghosts so angry? Is it me? If you can, look for any clue that could give us answers.
This is a diary, and it belonged to Thay's grandmother. There's a key hidden between the pages. Oh, I know what this is for. I completely forgot all about the basement until just now. Let me ask Thay if it's okay for us to poke around down there.

The door to the basement is under the rug in the foyer. Let's take a peek down there. Expect to find the worst of the hauntings. Statistically, one in five Hollowborn lose their first life in a basement. Haha, you can't tell if I'm joking?
Just as expected, the basement was flooded with ghosts. We were knee-deep in them, and have mean scratches to show for it. What are they doing down here? Were Thay and I living above a murder cellar the whole time?

Interesting. The spirits are gathering around an old closet all the way at the back of the basement. It looks like…it's also possessed. The source of the haunting may be inside the closet, and it's not going to open its doors without a fight.
Take a look at what's tucked all the way in the back of the closet! This shroud was Thay's grandmother's. I remember now. We stored it away down here, and that's when the haunting began!

The spirits are swarming around us! They're trying to get inside the tent. Thay and I will help you exorcize them before they trash all of our hard work - or kill us. I've been swamped with wedding work. I need to get my priorities straight.
These spirits were so angry that they lingered, lost in their own rage, to take revenge. You'd think they'd become Hollowborn, but the Shadow Fiend wasn't interested. I wonder if their standards are getting higher.

The source of the rampage was another Witch. They were the one who killed my grandmother-in-law, and now they're after my fiance too. We Hollowborn don't die easy, but I won't hold back. This Witch made Thay cry, and we'll return the favor.
Thank you, friend. You've reunited Thay with her family. Soon, they'll be my family too.

Don't sneak off yet. You need to be there for the bouquet toss, and we're in need of a fitting bouquet. The last one got ripped up by the spirits and the Blood Witch. Maybe we can salvage the petals and make something special out of them.
The flowers are a lot prettier with a spectral glow. Even the splashes of blood red could bless your future with…health! Let's say health! Thay loves it so much, she might have trouble letting it go to someone else.

We have some familiar faces coming our way - Vindicator Soldiers. The door to their inner sanctum is locked, so one of them must have the key. Let's politely go through their pockets, and by that I mean dangle them by the ankles and shake them down.
We wouldn't have to be so rough if the Vindicators did their job. You'd think the "Dawn" in their name would stand for hope and harmony, but it never does with these kinds of organizations. Still, they're far more agitated than I expected. I wonder why?

Through the door is another batch of familiar faces. This time, I recognize them from home. Hollowborn Soldiers were hiding in the ranks of the Vindicators the entire time. They don't look happy with us, so there's no need to be polite. Let's run them over.
Most of them were Hollowborn before they joined the Vindicators. I didn't expect there to be so many. Maybe they're trying to make more of us by targeting people that have strong wills to fight and live. Haha, that's definitely not ethical.

Further ahead, the remaining members of the Dawn Vindicators are making their last stand. They're fighting the Hollowborn, but they'll lash out at us, too. Take down the recruits, and try to talk some sense into their Flag Bearer, Genevieve.
The Hollowborn are trying to accelerate Gramiel's transformation. They want to cut down his followers so he can quickly receive their Grace. What a way to go. They were supposed to be protectors and divine warriors, but now they're just fuel.

Remember the Beast Tamer in the tower? Looks like he sent his Hounds to protect the area. They're likely a gift to the person he's actually loyal to. Be prepared for a fight, and don't hold back, even if you're a dog lover. Don't worry. The pups will be fine.
He must have spent a ton of gold at the pet groomer's. You can't even tell that most of his Hounds are actually…

All of the Hounds are actually Hollowborn, and it'll be hard to read that letter left on the statue of Veronika if they keep getting in the way. Go on and take a look. I think you're going to have a lot to say to me afterwards.
Go on. You're smart. You already have all the answers.

It's all going to end soon, and the Vindicators can sense it. That's why only their Draconians are left standing. Gramiel's fate has to be decided, and we can't let a couple of lizards get in the way of that.
Fate, Dragons, and calamities. They always come hand in hand. Huh? You look even grouchier than before. What did I say? Could it have been the lizard comment? Didn't know you had a soft spot for Dragons, unless…

Even some of the Draconians were Hollowborn! That's a surprise! Veronika and the others were up to a lot more than I was aware of. These Hollowborn Draconians won't go down easy, but we need to forge ahead.
Now that I think about it, the Hollowborn Oracle was always going on about how Dragons are linked to the divine. They're the focal point of every legend. Well, there isn't really a Dragon around here…Hmm. That's a strange look on your face.

The Vindicator and Hollowborn Draconians are putting their differences aside, and working together to stop you. That's honorable, but we'll have to teach them a hard lesson. Some things aren't meant to be.
It looks like they're leaving to lick their wounds. You think you're going to be the reason why we'll have new Draconians joining our Hollowborn ranks? Second chances are good. Maybe they'll learn from this loss.

We caught Gramiel right before he completed the ritual to become a Celestial again. This is all on you, friend. We came here to defeat him before he can ascend, and I'll be there to support that choice.
I can feel the misery coming off of Gramiel in waves. This mortal body was something he chose. It let him live with Veronika, and held his happiest memories. He has to leave it if he wants to become a Celestial again. I don't remember if that's how I felt about my original mortal life.

The other Hollowborn cut down too many of the Vindicators. Their Grace allowed Gramiel to ascend. We're going to have to fight him at the peak of his strength. When we strike him down, you'll have a choice to make.
Let me prove myself to the Shadow Fiend, and you.
