8 Track day - AQW's 70's inspired celebration. 8-track tapes were a recording medium that predate the cassette tape and were popular in the 70's.

A

Adventure Coins (AC) - Currency attained by paying real cash or from Ballyhoo. Items that cost AC are marked by "acsmall.png" tags on this wiki. They are orange text-colored items on Character Pages. To buy ACs using real cash, you can do so here.

Action Points (AP) - This is the blue bar on your character box. It gets used up when you use skills and different skills use different amount of Action Points. This is the same as Mana. By resting, you can regenerate it, and all classes also have special ways to regenerate it.

Akiba New Year - AQW celebration of Chinese new years day.

Alignment - During the course of the story you choose to either align your character to Good Faction (King Alteon) or Evil Faction (The Shadowscythe). This will grant you access to specific shops and change the way some NPCs interact with you. You can currently change your alignment by paying 100,000 Gold to either King Alteon (NPC) or Gravelyn (NPC), depending on which you are changing to.

Alpha/Alpha Tester - Alpha refers to the very short period of the time in public testing before the Beta. Alpha and Beta testing was made available to all Guardians, Dragonlords and Star Captains. This is not an achievement on player character pages. Only one item is Alpha tester only, Classic Alpha Pirate.

Armors - Armor/clothing that go over your class look. They're just costumes to make you look different while still having the skills of the equipped class. Armors can be found here.

B

Battle Pet - Battle Pets are unique companions that do your fighting for you. These pets can be obtained through questing, shops, or are summoned by the class itself. See the Battle Pets page for currently available Battle Pets.

Beta Character - Beta refers to the pre-release public testing of AQW. This is an achievement on player character pages to show they were involved. Alpha and Beta testing was made available to all Guardians, Dragonlords and Star Captains. Beta Character signifies that an account was created during the Alpha or Beta testing. All Alpha and Beta players have Beta Character.

Beta Tester - Beta refers to the pre-release public testing of AQW. This is an achievement on player character pages to show they were involved. Alpha and Beta testing was made available to all Guardians, Dragonlords and Star Captains. Alpha and Beta players who verified their AQW accounts with Guardian (or X-Guardian), Dragonlord, or Star Captain, and were subsequently able to login, were awarded Beta Tester. Only a few items went rare after Beta, most notably Beta Berserker and Star Sword. Most of these items are now available in the Book of Lore's Beta Shop.

C

Chaos - Chaos is the alignment of the main antagonist of AQW, Drakath. It is possible to align your character with the chaos.

Class - You start by choosing Warrior (Class), Healer, Rogue or Mage. Subsequent classes are available from shops, quests and drops. The class you are using defines the skills you have. As you raise your class rank by earning CP you will learn more skills. You can own and rank multiple classes at the same time, but only equip one at a time. Losing a class by selling or destroying it erases its rank, and if you re-obtain the class, it will be back to Rank 1. (click Here for more classes.)

Class Points (CP) - Used to rank up your currently equipped class. Earned by defeating monsters and completing some quests. Amount gained is based on enemy level, own level, and rank of currently equipped class. Go here to see the amount of class points needed for each rank.

D

DragonLord - The Upgrade form in DragonFable, defenders of Falconreach and owners of a Dragon Amulet. Click here to see DragonLord Items. Click here to Verify your DragonLord Account or click here to Upgrade to DragonLord.

Difficulty - This is the difficulty of any said monster, represented in stars below their health bars. The more stars, the harder that monster is for it's level. Difficulty does not vary based on level, so players may find a 2 or 3 star enemy easy to kill once they have surpassed its level. High difficulty monsters are more likely to have special skills that require tactics.

E

Experience / Experience Points (XP) - Used to level up your character. Earned by defeating monsters and completing most quests. Based on enemy level and your current level. Go here to see the amount of experience needed for each level.

F

Faction - These are groups of NPCs throughout Lore. Do quests for them and you will earn Reputation (Rep), increasing your rank among the factions as people learn to respect (or fear) you. Go here to see the amount of reputation points needed for each rank. Factions can be found here.

Founder - Founders are players who upgraded to Member (aka Legend) before November 17th, 2008 at midnight. These players gained founder status, shown as an achievement on their character page, and access to the game's first rare monthly pet, the Platinum Dragon and the Armored Platinum Dragon in October 2009. Founder items are marked by "foundersmall.png" tags on this wiki. The Founder Shop was added to the Book of Lore and is accessible to Founders, and it contains every Founder pet within it.

Frostval - AE's version of Christmas. Occurs every December.

G

Good Luck Day - AQW's celebration of St. Patrick's Day.

Guardian - The Upgrade form in AdventureQuest, defenders of Battleon and the Guardian Towers. Click here to see Guardian Items. Click here to Verify your Guardian Account or click here to Upgrade to Guardian.

H

Harvest Day - AQW's celebration of the Harvest Festival / Thanksgiving Day.

Health Points (HP) - This is the red bar on your character box or the green bar under your name (Keyboard Shortcut of V). It gets reduced when you are attacked and hit by enemies. Once you reach 0 Health, you die and you must wait 10 seconds before you can respawn, get sent back to the starting point of the zone you are in and are allowed to continue playing. Currently there are no other penalties. You can regenerate your health by resting.

Heroes Heart Day - AE's version of Valentines Day. Occurs every February.

(Note: Previously called "Member Only").

M

Mana Points (MP) - This is the blue bar on your character box. It gets used up when you use skills and different skills use different amount of Mana. This is the same as Action Points. By Resting, you can regenerate it, and all classes also have special ways to regenerate it.

Merge Items - These items are used to obtain certain weapons or armor, or even to upgrade weapons or armors. They are generally stackable, meaning you can hold up to a certain number with the item still only taking up one inventory slot. They are used in Merge Shops (see below).

Merge Shops - These shops contain items that are bought using Merge Items (above), instead of just gold. They are not always easy to get. You can also upgrade certain weapons and armor.

N

R

Reputation (Rep) - Used to increase you rank within Factions, much in the same way CP and XP work. Reputation is gained by completing specific quests and will allow users to gain access to the items in the faction shops as they rank up. See Factions for more details. Go here to see the amount of reputation points needed for each rank.

S

Seasonal - Anything that is not obtainable/accessible to the general public, yet returns to the game every so often, usually yearly, during an event. Seasonal items are marked by "seasonalsmall.png" tags on this wiki. Most seasonal items are denoted by a year tag following the item name (e.g. Cane of Greed 08), but not all tagged items have returned. However, certain seasonal items have always left and returned without any year tags.

Special Offer - These are items that are only available to those who have either seen AE at their booth at a convention, bought an item from HeroMart, or completed a special achievement in the game that unlocks special offer items/shops. Special Offer items are marked by "specialsmall.png" tags on this wiki.

SponZard - Clicking this button found randomly in Battleon, will get you some nice free stuff that has been sponsored (SponZard, get it?) by some of our friendly advertizers. raresmall.png

U

Upholder items are marked by "upholdersmall.png" tags on this wiki. Note: 1st Upholder did not require purchasing Legendship and was available also by purchasing AC packages. All subsequent Upholder packages have been restricted to Legendship.

V

W

Wars have War Meters, which keeps count of how many waves people have completed across ALL servers. Once the meter hits 100%, the war boss will be released. Wars can be found here.
