Post any corrections, new information and suggestions on the Cutscene Scripts here.
Just a quick suggestion.
After a quick confusion run-in with another editer, I believe that in each script's text, at the TOP of the script, before the script dialogue, there should be some key information. Like what NPC or Action starts said Script. For example, the script I couldn't find last night in-game was "Vaxt Ahas" in ChronoSpan. Finally, I was informed it was from Warlic Golem in /join timevoid.
So what I propose is this. Using the Vaxt Ahas script as an example.
NPC: Warlic (Golem)
Location: Time Void
«Scene: The Span»
«Screen fade»
Hero: We were suppose to meet here. Looks like he's late. NOT a real confidence-builder in a Chronomancer.
~Rest of Dialogue.
It would help people know where these scripts can be found, and can even act as a guide in some manner, letting people know that if they are at "this" NPC, and have "this" Script, they are on the right track.
Opinions?
A Location section could actually be quite useful, I really like the idea. However, could NPCs not come under that? For example:
Locations:
- Time Void - Complete Warlic (Golem)'s Quests
- Book of Lore (Replay)
- Map of Lore - ThunderForge (Replay)
- Time Void - Warlic (Golem) (Replay)
The above was just made-up, obviously, but is this system not more efficient? Also, I've also placed the original cutscene location at the top of list, then added replays with a (Replay) note next to the other locations.
Sounds perfectly good to me! I'm glad you like my idea!
Perhaps we could make an indented bullet after the original for each replay location?
For instance:
Locations:
- Time Void - Complete Warlic (Golem)'s Quests
- Book of Lore (Replay)
- Map of Lore (Replay)
- Time Void - Warlic (Golem) (Replay)
That way people can easily determine that the top is the first initiated cutscene?
The only trouble I can imagine will be, since the scripts you've listed so far are the ones from the Map of Lore, properly finding each Script's initiative NPC will be quite tough but it can, and in this case, WILL be done. ^_^
Hmm I agree that we need to make the primary location stand out. After thinking about it for a while, how about this?
Locations:
- Town name (if applicable) - Primary location i.e. quest completed or map joined (if applicable)
- Replay:
- Town name (if applicable) - NPC (if applicable)
- Map of Lore - Area (if applicable)
Cutscene dialogue
If no-one has a problem with it, I will add it to the template and fill in the other cutscenes later.
I think that is pretty much perfect. I was gonna say that instead of Town Name it could be "Primary Cue", but I realized, I can't remember any Cutscene ever starting the first time from talking to an NPC.
Sounds good to me! Should we get started putting those in?
It's proper grammar, so yes, you should use periods. If it was an Also see note on a weapon page, that's not about grammar. But on a Dialogue script… Yes. You should use all proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. (Unless the dialogue text requires otherwise.)
