General
- All image on the wiki must be taken in-game. No exceptions.
- Please read Recommended Image-Taking Programs for an idea of what image-taking program to use.
- Your game's visual graphics must always be set to high. You can adjust them by clicking "Options" (the little gear button) in the toolbar at the bottom of the game screen.
- Your game screen's size must be at the normal size. You can adjust this by clicking the "Game Size" dropdown menu below the game screen.
- Before you take the image, you must zoom in on all images of what you're taking (except locations). To zoom in, hold Ctrl then press "+" on your keyboard, To zoom out, press "-" instead.
- Do not edit images, crop them only (removing an image's background does not count as cropping).
- You must properly crop your image. Examples are as follows: Proper cropping (old AdventureQuest examples): uncropped, poorly cropped, over cropped, ideally cropped
- Saved as .png (.gif can work, but you'd have to check and see if there's a loss of color)
- Images should preferably be hosted on Imgur (Do not use Tinypic, Imageshack, or Photobucket as they are banned from the wiki). If you are using Lightshot, save the image to your computer first, and then upload it directly to Imgur.
- Now that we have been given access to the White Map area, it is ideal for item images to be taken there as it provides the best quality image, though it is not essential. Unless it is not possible, for example, it is not ideal for white colored items to be taken in White Map.
- Regarding Items: The background does not have to be fully white for every image. Please don't changing perfectly good images to images with white backgrounds. The background does not matter (depending on the circumstance), as the focus of the image is on the item itself.
- Images of items with light-colored outer glows should be taken in a darker location (for example, the cliff in Battleoff).
- For items, please try to take images of the item equipped (like this), and not from the preview window in the inventory (like this).
- For items, always have the character face to the right
- No character names. It's just wasted space… unless it's for size comparison or if there's no way to print without it.
- No guild names. If you can't take the guild name out fully, try to take it out as best as you can.
- You can use the magnifying glass in the lower right to preview house items if you do not have a way to get an in-game pic for 'em.
- Maximum image size limits:
- Regular: 1000x620
- Tabview: 965x590
Armor/Class Armor
- Unequip or hide pets, helms, and capes.
- Use the blank hairstyle. Other hairstyles usually cover up parts of the armor, including the parts that aren't obvious which is something we don't want.
- You must equip any of the following weapons if you are taking armor images:
- If you are
: Unarmed
- If you are FreePlayer: Hollowborn Thunderlord Lightning (requires Level 45 and Rank 2 Hollowborn) or 8 and a half inch Nails
- If you are
Book of Lore Badges
- When taking the image, it must be done using the Normal screen size, and it must be at 100% zoom.
- When cropping the image, there must be 1 pixel minimum and 2 pixels maximum worth of space on all sides of the badge. The goal here is to try and leave as little space as possible without the badge looking like it's cropped.
- If there is a glow on the badge, try your best to predict where it ends. Make sure you don't accidentally crop it.
Capes/Back Items
- Use either the character name or the character's shadow for size comparison (whichever one has less white space). If you're using Bodiless Horseman Morph and the head does not get in the way of the cape/backitem, then use that instead, otherwise use Coolest Invisible Ninja +5 or Invisible Ninja +5.
- Unequip large items and remove any hair that may obstruct the cape, and try to focus on as much of the cape as possible.
- Bodiless Horseman Morph, (Coolest) Invisible Ninja +5, and Tsukumo-Gami Morph (the 5th morph) are ideal, but not essential.
Character Page Backgrounds
- When taking the image, it must be done using the Normal screen size, and it must be at 100% zoom.
- Only images taken with Bodiless Horseman Morph or (Coolest) Invisible Ninja +5, and Unarmed will be accepted and used. This is to ensure that we keep as much detail as possible.
- When cropping the image, you must crop visibly into the yellow so that there is no chance of background being cut off. Leave a thin border of yellow.
Combat Animations
- Unequip or hide pets, helms, and capes.
- For dark/black animations, maps like Pencil Puddle are ideal.
- For bright/white/glowing animations, maps like Necropolis Cavern are ideal.
- When taking animation images, crop to just so the animation if the animation does not cover the whole screen.
- No chatbox (hide it), no toolbar at the bottom, no other people in the room (if possible), do not be in a party.
- Do not equip any other items that has a combat animation.
Helmets & Hoods
- Avoid taking a screenshot with an armor that shows up to the sides or otherwise edits facial expressions (i.e. scars, eyes, mouth, etc.) just so that focus is placed on the helm and focuses the helm.
- Bodiless Horseman Morph and Tsukumo-Gami Morph (the 5th morph) are ideal, but not essential.
- Do not take pictures of helms using the Invisible Ninja/Almost Visible Ninja armors. Take a picture with the face, this is so that we know where the hair/helm is positioned on the head.
- If the player name and guild name are obstructing the image, use /rest to take the image.
- For helms that are hair/include hair, please make sure your hair color isn't too dark. Darker hair colors can hide the hair's details.
- Use an armor with the default face (an armor with the same type of face as Peasant Rags or Bodiless Horseman Morph). The reason for this is to be able to easily differentiate between helms that are morphs and those that are not.
Locations
- The focus should be the screens in an area, so no chatbox (hide it), no toolbar at the bottom, no other people in the room (if possible), do not be in a party, and just try to keep the screen in it's 'natural state' without any interferences (except yourself) and zoom. If there are monsters, leave them in.
- When taking the image(s), it must be done using the Normal screen size, and it must be at 100% zoom. Anything larger will cause the location's background to become pixelated.
Monsters, NPCs, and Pets
- Try to get the entire monster/NPC/pet. You can also get the pet to follow you to take a screenshot of it alone, though that's not needed either. Focus on the pet itself.
- For monsters, take the image along with the red name above their head. This shows that the picture you took is actually a picture of a monster.
- For NPCs, take the image along with the "!" bubble above their head. This shows that the picture you took is actually a picture of an NPC.
Weapons
- Try not to have too many other things around, so that people get a good look at it. Focus on the weapon itself.
- Bodiless Horseman Morph, (Coolest) Invisible Ninja +5, and Tsukumo-Gami Morph (the 5th morph) are ideal, but not essential.
- If possible, include at least part of the character's shadow or equip a simple armor (Almost Visible Ninja is recommended, but Peasant Rags works too if you don't have that) so there can be a weapon vs body size comparison. Make sure the shadow is at its default size as the smaller shadow that appears when changing armor could skew the size comparison.
- For daggers, include the full image of the dagger itself, not crop part of one blade or use a sword version of the dagger.

- Minor corrections (such as adding a shadow to an image, fixing a minor crop, etc.)
- Replacing a good quality image that doesn't follow ISG with an image that is good quality and does follow the ISG.
- Replacing an image that is broken
- Adding an image that's not yours (this is a big no-no on the wiki, as we don't like people taking credit for other people's work)
