I believe your footing on the riverbank would be strengthened with magic-imbued hieroglyphs. To prepare for your duel with Sobekemsaph, Crulon suggests taking the hieroglyph-etched scales from the lamias of /djinnguard.

Hieroglyphs carved in a certain way can call upon the greater forces of Lore to grant you blessings. Those from the lamia will clear your mind. Serpents of the Sandsea tattoo themselves with dark glyphs bestowed by Apo..something. I can't quite recall the name.

During Sobekemsaph's reign, his army spread the reach of the Sandsea's deserts. He entombed himself to let his successor rise, but one of his generals took residence in /Dream Palace. Spar with Golmoth and his harpies as practice for your real match.

Hearing of Sobekemsaph's rise, Golmoth has graciously given us his glyphs of power, protection, and stability. Hold on to them, but only for the duel. The magic they radiate can slowly transform you into Sobekemsaph's 'peak image of a warrior' - A crocodile.

I beseech you, the Hero chosen by acting Chief Lector Crulon, to duel the Pharaoh of Warfare, Sobekmsaph, in ritual combat. Your victory will earn the people of the Sandsea the right to drink from this newborn river.

May you bathe in a waterfall of prosperity, young Hero. The sands of the desert whisper your name with reverence. Our duties are done, so it falls to the current Pharaoh of the Sandsea to use our gift wisely. If you trust Zhoom, then I will send Crulon to his side as Chief Lector.
