Hey hey, Battle Buddy! You ready to start helping me earn my gold and become a full-fledged paladin? All we've gotta do is kill 1,000 undead - plus a horde leader! Shouldn't take too long, eh?
After completing the 'Slay BIGGER!!' quest:

This note… this isn't anything to do with the horde leader at all! It's a call for help from a little girl who's lost out here! As a paladin, my duties aren't limited to just fighting the undead – I have to put my trial on hold until we've helped this girl.

Please help! I got lost from my mommy while we were trying to get home. It's so scary out here. I'm hiding from the monsters, but there are so many of them! Please, find me before they do!

Go, hero! I will stay here with Emily and protect her - so you must be the one to slay the Subjugator. I'll have to find another horde leader to slay before I complete my trial, but that's ok. My duty to this child is far more important.
After completing the 'Subjugator Wraithbone' quest:
Paladin Recruit
After today - how can I even pretend that I'm ready to earn my gold? A real paladin would never have been fooled by Emily's act. In hindsight, it was so obvious. For now, all I can do is try to protect the Keep from this onslaught. I hope we can find a way to stop it.
