I don't often visit the pedestal's room. It used to teleport the Alutians to the surface so they could hunt crabs, but was broken during the attack so no one could escape. It's not that being here makes me sad, it's just that the room is very haunted. I…can't handle ghosts. I won't be much help if I huddled in the corner screaming my head off. Could I trouble you to help me shoo them away?
You're willing to touch those slimy things? Oh there I go again, I shouldn't be so disrespectful. These spirits are the souls of mortals favored by Lady Neso. They were saved from the darkness of the afterlife and transformed into carefree jellyfish by their strong bonds with her. Death was kind enough to let these souls drift in the sea, or maybe it would be uhm…difficult to discuss the issues with Lady Neso.

My herd's gotten loose again. They're what I call Bone Crustaceans, and I've been rearing them ever since I was imprisoned. The Alutians used to keep them as a food source for their young ones. Nowadays, I've been feeding them mineral enriched clay so they won't chew on…what remains of the Alutians. Would you lend a hand wrangling a few? I'll whip you up a meal. Think of it as a consolation prize for coming so far.
Go on and eat up! Why are you and Victoria so shy? Even though we can't get a fire going down here, the raw meat's refreshing! See? Little Rhubarb's helping himself. I'm glad Ox's younglings are in such good health. And I promise, the Crustaceans have only been eating the mineral-rich clay I summon through the cracks in the building. It's been decades since they've eaten the egg shells. It should be out of their system.

The Crustaceans broke into the main Nursery again! It's where the Alutians would keep their eggs safe. After Rheum repelled their invasion of the land, Lord Tremblor was still furious. He wanted us to make sure the Alutians would never invade again. To that end, the warriors of Rheum attacked the city, and crushed the eggs first…Would you please help me clean the eggshells and lead the Crustaceans back into the hall?
I believe that targeting the eggs first was meant to destroy the Alutians psychologically, making them act irrationally. Miel, a general in the Rheum army, would have thought up something like that. He was smart…too smart. I remember Lord Tremblor being pleased that the wrongs against him were righted, even more so when the army was wiped out, and the civilians not long after. Their carcasses were eaten by their own livestock…

See the statue in the back wall of the Nursery? That is Lady Neso. It must have been damaged during the invasion. Lord Tremblor would not wish such poor treatment on her visage. I can't restore the statue but I routinely clean it. You'll help? Thank you! Ah, the Jellyfish are becoming agitated. They get that way whenever my mood picks up. We'll need to fight them off so they won't distract us.
The Rheum warriors told me that after the eggs were smashed, Lady Neso's statue began weeping. I wouldn't know if that happened for sure, but if the warriors believed that Lady Neso could see them, they may have attacked her statue. Lord Tremblor was unaware that Lady Neso cared so much for the Alutians. He was shocked by how upset she was, and did not know what to do when she demanded that balance be made.

Oh dear, you're guests but I've run you ragged. Come and take a breather in my room. It used to receive visiting parents but I've laid a few blankets down for us to sit on. Just shoo the jellies off, and while you're there, you'll see Ox and his wife, Fraise. Or rather, the dolls I've made of them. Please don't look so alarmed! I only needed a few faces to talk to so I could stay sane. Once we're settled in, I'll finish telling my story.
Lord Tremblor is wise as he is ancient, but everyone has room to grow no matter how old they get. He learned that the adoration the Alutians paid to Lady Neso was graciously returned. Lord Tremblor also realized that he wasn't as stoic as stone. He wasn't willing to give the people of Rheum to the waves. Which is why I offered to go in their stead. I abandoned them when they needed guidance for my own selfish reasons.

Alutea was built where the currents can easily carry you back and forth from the surface. Problem is, our gangly human bodies won't catch the currents as easily as the fins of the Alutians. Ah, of course Captain Rhubarb would know a thing or two about navigation. Then we'll collect the ropes and cloth needed to create his contraption. There should be supplies scattered about the Nursery.
How smart! It's like a sail but instead of catching the wind, it'll catch the upward sea currents. What would Rhubarb need an underwater sail for? Raiding shipwrecks?! Don't you mean salvaging them? Haha, for a moment there, I was worried that he was a pirate and not an upright navy man.

Now comes the difficult part. The doors to the outside aren't sealed but everything beyond is underwater. There are Water Elementals that act as guards, stationed here by Lady Neso. They wouldn't attack you but because I am escaping, they will do everything in their power to stop us. We'll need to fight them off and let Rhubarb read the currents. That way, we won't get thrown deeper into the marine trench.
Warmer than you thought, right? The Alutians built the nursery here because of the warmer currents. I am also surprised we didn't need any water breathing spells. But I won't question a blessing. It's rude, and wastes precious time. Do you see all of the marks on the walls? They're old scars from the invasion, and proof that the Last Alutian visits to make sure I'm still imprisoned. We need to leave before they return.

I kept my trap shut because it sounded so silly…but can we go back and take Oxali and Fraise with us? The dolls in my room, I mean. I know I just said we don't have a lot of time but I'm going to weep if I leave them behind! They kept me company so long, I can't just abandon them. What's with that "harharhar!" Rhubarb? But, you'll really go back and get them? Thank you! We'll clear the critters too. They're not happy about me leaving.
Amazing how you can fold two people-sized dolls and fit them into your bag! Along with bundles of food for the road - just for Rhubarb. Haha, both you and Victoria got sensitive tastes like the nobles back in Rheum. Not that it's bad! I'm glad that the world has gotten softer. As a Champion, I don't want the generations who come after me to have to toughen their skin and hold their tears. You all deserve a kind and warm home.

Centuries have passed, the Empire of Rheum has declined, and the Avatars speak to us no more. This will be the first time I will set foot on land in ages. It's time to leave. We must ascend to the highest point in the Nursery, and ride the currents upwards. There is no sign of the last Alutian but the elementals will surely make one last push to drag me down. Let's forge ahead and fight off the elementals.
Sunlight? It's so bright! Both it and all this salt are stinging my eyes. Rhubarb, don't laugh so hard if you could already tell that I easily! Wait…that noise in the distance. It's a roar! I made us waste too much time. The Last Alutian is approaching!

The Alutians used to have long sparkling tails and you could hear their songs as you drifted into the depths. Their remaining child would have no memory of that. Lady Neso tried to soothe their grudges and loneliness by transforming them into a beast that could tear through stone. They were stuck in the ruins as long as I was, and will return if we don't subdue them. We will fight them together, and turn them towards the horizon.
The beach is so calm! My last memory of the surface was of the waves tearing at the coast but now, it's a paradise! Lady Neso's blessings remain true and eternal, just like her curses. Don't fret, you've all led me back home. I can finally return to the earth. To Lord Tremblor's side.
