We NEED to question Silvertree, and that means we're going to have to cross that river. It's full of healthy minerals, but far too deep for us to wade across. I need 7 stone reagents from the Amethyst Golems to activate my Petrification Potion to turn the water to stone. That'll be much gneiss-er to cross.

You are a wonder to marble at, Hero! Once you pour the Petrification Potion on the river, crossing shale be easy! But fording the river won't get us inside; there's still the portcullis to deal with.

Raising the Stakes

Silvertree isn't usually so secretive. He's always hosting parties and playing up his popularity. I can't imagine him wanting to keep anyone out of his mansion unless he had something to hide. Fortunately, I know a way past this barrier. Once you collect enough flowers, you can use my Dandelion Draft and the portcullis' bars will float right up!

Just use the potion on the portcullis and I'm pretty sure the result will be uplifting! But getting past Raoul's external barriers was almost too easy. I have a feeling the defenses for the interior will be the superior.

Much like those pendulum blades about to cut us off, Raoul always did go back and forth between more powerful patrons. My Temporal Solidification Potion will freeze those blades in place! We'll need a clock's mechanism and something cold for it to work, though, like 7 Frigid Frogdrake horns.

Applying the potion will stop time, but only for the weapons. Then WE can pass! Hmm… Before, I would have said Raoul was too spineless and insignificant to have attempted regicide, but after seeing this? I'm not sure.

Inscrutable Motivation

There he is! But… he's in a spell-trance. Who knows what he's about to do, or why! Quick, gather up some of his potions and reagents. If we're lucky, there's enough there to make my signature draught, a Potion of Inscrutable Mutation. It'll interrupt his current working, and… finesse him into telling us what we need to know.

Poison Creation

The forest is dense, and we'll need to clear a path quickly. To make a Vegetal Decay Draught, I'll need 8 drops of Traitor Knight's Sweat, 5 Toxic Gallstones from the marsh lurkers, 3 bunches of Nightrage Weed, and 3 handfuls of Cyanidic Soil. They should all be found near here, but most people don't know how to look.

Those traitorous knights and marsh lurkers have been more helpful than they meant to be. The clean cloths will come in handy. The astringent slime can be useful in many ways. And, of course, the Vegetal Decay Draught will help us get where we need to go. So let's hurry!

Vegetal Decay

Apply the Vegetal Decay Draught three times to each tree that needs to be moved. It is my hope that once we've cleared enough trees, we'll find where Rolith and the Knights are being kept. You'll need to return to me to get each new dose of the Draught. And bring me a Toxic Gallstone. Don't ask why.

Oh, my! I was unaware that Combustible Krialo Moss grew in this region of Lore! This is not its natural habitat. But no matter, it's our luck, so keep it! This will be VERY nice to have when things get… hot. We need to get moving. I have a bad feeling about what we're going to find.

Requirements: Must have completed the previous quest.

How can ANYONE who claims to fight for Good do this to an innocent family? We must help them! The Traitor Knights should have nails, and the Treeants will have vines. All you'll need to do is bring back enough items to help rebuild Jenna's home! I need 6 unbent nails and 6 sturdy vines, and don't forget some wood from the barricade. Then rebuild the cottage!

While you were finishing the hammering, Jenna gave me these as a gift. Aniseweed Pulp, fresh of course, and sour sap she gathered last spring. I know exactly what we'll do with them. I'll explain when the time comes. It's better you not know until then.

Corrosive Philtre

I cannot fathom BURNING someone who will not do as you ask. At least my poisons kill quickly. Free 15 Burning Loyalists and collect embers from their fire. With the pure rainwater you'll find in the buckets by Jenna's home, and the Krialo Moss I've got, we're going to free those Knights from the fort!

Now that you've freed the loyal knights from their torturous confinement, we'll need to heal them. That, at least, I can do with a clear conscience! Keep the Corrosive Philtre close, and don't let that last Burning Ember die. We'll need it soon enough.

I need you to slay the Traitorous Knights guarding the gate while I finish preparing the Corrosive Philtre. I believe there's only the 8 of them, so you should finish them easily. Once you do, apply the Philtre to the gate and we'll be able to enter. Don't drink any!

The atrocities they have committed… I cannot think on them now. We must push forward to rescue the Knights. Make sure to bring the Flakes of Rust from the gate. We'll need them inside.

Take out the 11 Traitorous Knights in the camp. They're all Lionfang's men now. I will need 11 drops of Enraged Blood and then, with the other ingredients I have, you'll make a Termination Tonic. With that, we can make them all pay for what they've done!

Rooted Remedy

Ingrid lives on her own and it doesn't look like she receives many visitors. I don't think the townsfolk are being mean-spirited. Ingrid likely refuses them entry because she feels like a pity case. With that in mind, would you please collect some herbs from the snowfield? We can ask her for advice about making herbal medicine, and then help her with some chores in return. That way, we'll naturally get to know her.

The snow is so thick that the herbs have to grow their roots through it to reach soil. Because of how hardy these plants have to be, they developed unique properties. Brewing the roots creates a nutrient-rich tea. Fascinating! Sorry, I got carried away with Ingrid for a moment. Let me brew a pot of tea and we can try it for ourselves. It'd be a waste if it was only the two of us sharing. We won't be able to finish it without Ingrid's help *wink.*

They're big animals clopping around, and I'm worried they'll trample Ingrid or damage her house. Wrangle them up and I'll give you an extra serving of stew.

I wonder what she needs them for.

We were chatting about those. The herbs don't actually have magical power, but power is where people believe it to be. And if you believe that there is significance in these snow flowers, then they'll keep your home safe.

She might refuse but it's worth asking. She smiled when we were sharing stories, and I don't want to leave her alone on a night when everyone's with their families. Let's talk to Aina about it and find some horses to pull a sled to get Ingrid there.

It's taking all of my willpower to hold myself back from charging into the mountains. But while I was panicking, Ingrid disappeared! She left behind two wreaths, one for me and you. There's a note that thanked us, and said goodbye. I had a terrible feeling about this so I went farther east to the foot of the Mountain. There, growling in the dark, was an enraged monster! Please, we need to defeat it so we can find Ingrid!

There she is! Ingrid was hiding in the bushes. Thank goodness…wait. What's that sound?

A Trick for the Eyes

Requirements: Must have completed the 'Intruder From the Stars' quest.

More of those Vaderix are emerging from the woods! We need to fight them off or else they'll be on our tail the entire hike! All the noise we're going to make will alert the townspeople, but Aina said she'll take care of that. She knows a few magic tricks that will hide us from their sight. We can even collect some supplies before we leave. Feathers for tinder and horse hair to make something warm.

None of the townsfolk could tell where we were! They marched right past us while you were wrestling with another Vaderix. Aina shared a secret about how the inn is understaffed. There aren't enough people to clean up after big parties, so she uses her magic to hide the messes with illusions. That way, guests can enjoy their morning unbothered while the staff have more time to clean. That's really handy for us!

Encroaching Frost

We need you to scout the mountain, but don't stray too far yet. At this elevation during the night, frostbite is going to chew off your fingers and nose. While you're exploring, take as many feathers as you can carry from the Mountain Owls. I'll gather more branches, and we'll use both to keep the fire going. I heard hooting while we were hiding so the owls should be close by.

+ When Completed

Thank you! We'll be able to keep the fire going for a couple of hours. The light and noise won't attract the mob or any beasts as long as Aina's illusions hide us. Ingrid needs to keep warm the most, but remember to take a break by the fire too. If you overexert yourself and pass out, I won't be able to find you…unless I leave Ingrid alone with Aina. As long as we act calmly, everything will be alright.

Horse Vision

So you found some Tundra Steeds while you were scouting the area? Some of them might have belonged to the racers! The horses must be spooked by whatever caused their sleds to go missing. It'll be difficult on this terrain but could you please lead some of them back to the campfire? If I'm able to recognize any of them, that would mean the other racers could be nearby.

I know this horse! There's a spot under his chin, and bits of Rolith's hair between his teeth. It's because his blond hair looks like hay. The poor pony's knees are shaky from fright, but I'm only seeing a few shallow scratches. It's a good and bad sign. On one hand, it could mean that there wasn't a crash or accident that caused the horses to get loose. On the other hand…that means something else made the racers vanish.

Frigid Mirage

The horses you found were milling about further ahead on flat ground. They have good sense so that might be a safer place to carry Ingrid. Talk to Ingrid and Aina while you warm up by the fire. I'll prepare our supplies for the move. Oh? Did you spot something else while you were exploring? A glowing torch all by itself? Unless…something played a trick on our eyes.

Like you said before, we shouldn't jump to any conclusions. Not when we're stuck up here and essentially lost. There's no motive, and I'm worried that Ingrid will be affected if we kick up a fuss. For now, let's corral the owls and horses around us. They're agitated by something, and the Tundra Steeds keep trying to go back to the top of the slope. Hmm, they're poking their noses at that pile of snow. Let's take a look there too.

There's a hole underneath the pile of snow! It's one of the mountain's cave systems, intentionally hidden with natural debris. There must be something inside that's agitating the animals. I hear voices and…snarls? It's Rolith! His voice I mean, not the snarling. Or maybe Rolith's also snarling if he's fighting off monsters. I'm so glad we found him! We need to hurry down and help Rolith and the other racers!

Could they be newer hatchlings? We'll figure that out later. Save the racers first! Quick, let's help them fight off the Juvenile Vaderix and make sure they're okay!

Thank goodness! Rolith and the others are safe and, for the most part, sound. Look at the mess in these cages. These Vaderix were brought up to the mountains and bred in this cave. Likely, the ones carrying out this secret operation were behind the racers' disappearances. If we didn't think that all of the torchlights had gone out, we may not have ventured into the mountains and found everyone in time…hmm…

While Ingrid leads us out of the mountains, we need to eliminate any Vaderix we come across. They'll hound us the entire way back if we don't get them first. I also want to know why these Juvenile Vaderix look so different from the adult green one you fought at the foot of the mountain. Could the bandits have done something to the Vaderix to make them stronger?

The woods are finally quiet again. That should be all, or at least most of those aliens taken down. Aina and I took a look at the Vaderix you defeated. Their blood is boiling hot and their bodies blend in with the snow. I'm not an expert but I agree with Aina about how any new Vaderix eggs that hatch in this cold environment quickly adapt to their surroundings. This is just the juveniles. Fully grown adults could be far more dangerous.

I can see moonlight filtering through the gaps in the trees. We're almost out of the woods! Ingrid says that she's beginning to recognize the landscape better. But that doesn't mean we'll be safe. If we're lucky and caught up to the bandits from the Neverglades, then we'll be in for a fight. Rolith and the others will back you up but don't let them clobber the bandits too hard. I'd like to have a nice chat with a couple of them.

Ingrid did it! I can see the sky and her house. We're out of the woods! And the snowfield is crawling with bandits. I talked to some of the ones you captured, and it didn't take long for them to break. No need for a truth serum this time. They're surprisingly unprepared but were given detailed instructions on how to navigate and hide in the mountains. It's just that the cold and the beasts were too much for their spring-wear to handle.

The bandits are already in the city but they've only just arrived. We aren't too late! Based on what the captured footmen said, their plans have already fallen apart and they can barely control their Vaderix. It's up to us to keep the situation from dissolving into chaos. We'll eliminate the Vaderix, and apprehend the Bandits. They'll go from the frigid mountains straight into a cold prison cell.

You were amazing out there! That's almost all of the invaders! We didn't have to worry about protecting the Diauhtla citizens either. The staff at Aina's inn took everyone inside and barricaded the doors. They should be safe…Huh, that was some really quick thinking. It's almost like they knew ahead of time that the bandits were on their way. Of course I'm thankful but…nevermind. I won't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Tsk tsk, he wasted his Frostval on something so rotten! Rolith said his name is Fletcher, and the bounty on his head could buy us a used bathtub. Not a big name but take care all the same. With how angry he is, it's going to take more than one beat-down to get him to give up.

That huge roach was born on the mountains, in our atmosphere, and adapted to become the apex predator of its new surroundings - is what Aina is reading from her notes. If she wanted, she could be an incredible narrator for theater plays. You're the Hero of this Frostval drama and it's up to you to take the final monster down!

The chefs are working with her to come up with new recipes made with ‘sustainable ingredients.' Rolith and I want to give it a try. Let's clean up the rest of the Vaderix and have another party!

The meal looks like a fancy turkey dinner and tastes like a fancy turkey dinner. But Aina winked and said that no turkeys were harmed in the making of those fixings…No, it can't be. Haha, it must be soy or beans seasoned, mushed, and shaped into turkey. They even got the crispy turkey skin right. Actually, it's kind of on the crunchy side. Aside from that, I wouldn't have known it was a meat alternative if Aina didn't tell us.
